These are some of the questions that are asked when choosing between a power shower and electric shower….so lets get straight to the point look at the pros and cons of both electric showers and power showers:

The Difference between an electric shower and a power shower:
To put simply an electric shower pumps and pressurizes hot and cold water in the unit directly to the shower head and does not require any pre heating of the water and works well where low pressure is in the house
A power shower pumps a mixture of hot and cold water where you have low water pressure however does not heat the water. The water is most commonly heated in the calorifier of the house i.e. by immersion switch or from a heated system in the house.

Electric Showers

An example of a electric shower on our site is: click here
Pros:
• Instant hot water
• No need for gas or oil boiler heating system
• Only uses energy when in use
• Pumps and heats water at the same time
Cons:
• Water pressure output not as good as power showers
• Qualified plumber and electrician required to install
• Can be affected by limescale as they work with internal heating elements
• Cheaper to heat hot water with gas rather than electricity

Power Showers

An example of a electric shower on our site is: click here

Pros:
• Good for areas where water pressure is low
• Very good water pressure from head usually a lot better than electric showers
• Power showers can be mains fed or electric fed
• A mains fed power shower will only require a plumber to install whereas electric showers involve both plumber and electrician

Cons:
• Can cost twice the price to run than an electric shower
• Cannot work on a “Combi Boiler” System
• Needs heated water to operate
